D&G: Dolce and Gabbana Women Fall 2012

D & G

A beautiful runway show that showcased a new fall collection for 2012 D&G consisted of several details worth mentioning that are reminiscent of old world Italian designs.  These old world Italian designs remind me very much of cathedrals and the Italian Renaissance period.  Remember Karl Lagerfeld's Chanel spring collection seemed to be inspired by the Marie Antoinette and the French Revolution? I think that old world designs with a modern flair are a trend making its way to the runways for 2012-13.  For example, the black cape paired with boots is an outfit worn on the streets for everyday women but paired with old world detailing brings this outfit to a different level by merging old with new.  By combining old and new we may create something new entirely. The standout piece for this outfit is the small purse pendant which is both a purse and a necklace.  Again, not only is old world Italian inspiration found in the designs of the clothes, but the colors chosen which are mostly black and gold and the needle point florals found on the purses tie all of these looks together to create a timeless, unique collection.
